Blue
Topia is a professional trio of two violins and double bass trained
at the Royal Academy of Music, London. These talented ladies present
a diverse and eclectic range of styles fusing popular and jazz
music with the classical repertoire. The trio can also arrange
music on request.
Recent
engagements include performances at The Guildhall, Two Temple
Place, The Grosvenor House Hotel and The White Cube Art Gallery
for an exhibition by the world-renowned artist, Anseln Kiefer.
Blue Topaz can be booked to perform at all manner of special occasions
including private functions, weddings and corporate events.
Anna,
violin, regularly performs with the New London Soloists' Chamber
Orchestra, Britten Sinfonia, Oxford Philomusica and The Belmont
Ensemble in London, the UK and abroad. She also enjoys working
with symphony orchestras including the BBC Symphony Orchestra,
the BBC Concert Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and
the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra. As a soloist Anna
has performed works such as the Bruch Violin Concerto and the
Bach Double Violin Concerto, with sister Libby, to critical acclaim
and has toured across the country with various chamber music ensembles
providing music for a wide range of audiences. Many of these performances
also incorporated the Live Music Now! scheme. Anna has been fortunate
to perform and tour globally with artists and groups including
Luciano Pavarotti, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Simply Red, the Opera Babes
and Il Divo.
Libby,
violin/piano, specialises in Chamber Music. She has performed
in many prominent venues including the Royal Albert Hall, the
Royal Festival Hall, and the Purcell Room and has played in the
prestigious Haydn Chamber Music Festival as lead violin. Libby
has performed the Kabalevsky Violin Concerto and the Bach Double
Violin Concerto (with sister Anna) as a soloist. She also premiered
Deborah Pritchard's work 'Saphirus' at the Royal Academy of Music
to great acclaim. This was infact Libby's final recital for which
she received a first. Having gained her place to study composition,
Libby has since discovered a passion for choral writing and has
had her works performed in Christ Church, Chelsea. Her keen interest
in commercial music has lead to Libby working all over the UK
and the USA with Sir Elton John including the renowned venues,
Birmingham NEC, Wembley Arena, the Royal Albert Hall and New York's
Radio City Music Hall. She has also performed with Il Divo on
the Parkinson Show and has made many other TV appearances.
Deborah,
double bass and composition, has performed classically with such
ensembles as the New European Orchestra, the European Union Youth
Orchestra and the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO String Scheme).
She has performed popular music with artists such as Andrea Boccelli
on the Parkinson Show and Enya at the World Music Awards in Monte
Carlo. In addition to playing the double bass Deborah is an experienced,
professional composer. Her work has been performed by many eminent
ensembles including the BBC Singers, the Philharmonia Chamber
Orchestra and the Composers's Ensemble. She has also been broadcast
by BBC Radio Three, recorded on CD by the NMC label, short-listed
by BBC Radio Four and has had work published by Faber Music. She
has recently composed the music for a production of the Oscar
Wilde Fairy Tales that was performed at the Southwark Playhouse.
She is currently studying for a DPhil in composition at Worcester
College, Oxford.
