Charlie
is one of the most exciting young harpists in Britain today. Her lively
character and versatility as a musician result in her being in great
demand.
Based in Wales, home of the harp and famous
world wide for harp music, Amanda is available to provide beautiful
harp music for your function.
Charlie started playing the harp when she
6 years old after watching the Eisteddfod on television. Gillian Green,
Ann Griffiths and Caryl Thomas have been her mentors, with Caryl continuing
to do so.
In 1992 she was accepted into Wells Cathedral
Music School where she was the first harpist to obtain a scholarship
as a specialist musician. 1995 Became a National Eisteddfod winner 1995
Won the Nansi Richards Scholarship. 2000 Obtained her LRSM from the
Associated Board of Music 2000 Accepted on to Yehudi Menuhin’s Live
Music As a Soloist Amanda has given many recitals and has a large repertoire,
available on request. Classical repertoire available on request. Amanda
is part a member of the committee for the European Harp Symposium which
will be held in Cardiff in July 2007.
For jazz, Charlie plays the rare and unique
electro-acoustic 47 string Lyon and Healy. She has always had a
love for jazz and in 2004 she was invited to support Jamie Cullum when
he played for a charity concert in the Celtic Manor, Newport. She performed
a 2 ½ hour set with jazz brothers Chris and Marc O'Connor on double
bass and drums. The audience was full of celebrities, including Meg
Matthews, Angela Griffin and Dannii Minogue.
In September 2006 Amanda was invited to
record with Dannii Minogue. The track 'I'll be home for Christmas' is
Dannii's first-ever festive track. It will be released on the Spirit
Of Christmas album, exclusively available through Myer stores across
Australia. Amanda co-arranged the song with Nigel Hart of Shabbeyroad
Studios, Caerphilly and recorded it in Strongroom Studios, London with
Dannii, drummer Karl Brazil (currently on tour with James Blunt) and
Al Mobbs on bass.
Charlie has recently been studying with
the jazz harp master Park Stickney from New York. His unsurpassed skills
on the harp have provided even more inspiration for her own unique style.
In 2004/5/6 Charlie also toured with: accordionist/guitarist: Ed Jay,
baritone: Owen Webb mezzo sopranos: Joanne Thomas and Patricia Hammond
sopranos: Jill Padfield and Rebecca Rudge.

brilliantly and for being part of our day”

"The music was just beautiful
and so many people remarked on how much they enjoyed it. The two Registrar's
said afterwards how much of a pleasure it was to go to a wedding with
a harpist rather than having to listen to CDs on a portable CD player.
A number of people also remarked on how nicely you dressed."
